Learn About the Brand New Jeep Gladiator
A midsize truck unlike any other is on its way for the 2020 model year. It comes to us in the form of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Promising to bring unmatched levels of power for hauling cargo and going offroad in addition to its uncompromising style, the Gladiator is prepared to show that the twenty-six-year wait from the last time Jeep released a midsize truck has been more than worth it. The Gladiator is set to become the new pinnacle of not only dependable trucks, but toughness as well. Jeep’s heritage will grow stronger and more impressive with the Gladiator’s fuel-efficient powertrains, onboard safety features, open-air freedom, off-road utility, and best-in-class 4x4 towing and payload.
Unique like no Other
With its new design elements in tow, there’s no mistaking the 2020 Gladiator as either a midsize truck or anything other than a Jeep due to its unique appearance and style. The Gladiator updates Jeep’s iconic keystone grille to have widened grille slots as well as a reconfigured top edge that swoops into the hood, thereby improving not only its general aerodynamics, but its air intake as well. Jeep’s traditionally square taillamps have been set to either side of the Gladiator’s easily accessed tailgate, designed in such a way that loading and unloading cargo is simple as could be. Every Gladiator comes with Segment-exclusive open-air freedom due to its Sunrider soft top, which is created from an innovative material that applies wind noise deadening. And for those off-roading purists out there the Gladiator offers a fold-down windshield so you can really feel the wind against your face as you drive all over the place.
Features and then Some
While the reveal of the Gladiator’s announcement was in of itself a surprise, its ability to combine its features, comfort, style, and versatility with such complete ease is a welcome surprise of its own. The Gladiator’s interior features a horizontal dashboard. This dashboard is then complemented by a center stack that’s been sculpted with an extremely clean form. This clean, sculpted form allows the customizable LED screen, charging ports, and array of stack controls to be easily recognized and reached by both the driver and front passenger so they can alter any setting they need to without having to work too hard. The Gladiator also offers the choice of either cloth or leather upholstery for front seats designed with lumbar support and bolster. Additionally, the rear seating is nothing to scoff at as it’s made from supportive and comfortable materials while also offering segment-leading legroom plus a 115-volt AC outlet and two USB ports.
Power to the Powertrains
Coming along with the 2020 Jeep Gladiator will be two powertrains that look to be not just powerful, but fuel-efficient. This all the more improves the outlook of what the Gladiator will bring to the table while offering the choice in how to tailor it be the perfect vehicle for you. The Gladiator’s standard engine will be the award-winning 3.5-liter Pentastar V6, which is already impressive with its 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The Pentastar will come initially equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, though it will have the available option to change that out for an eight-speed automatic transmission for those that are so inclined. The second powertrain that’s already been announced will be a three-liter EcoDiesel V6 with its upward of 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. This EcoDiesel option will make use of the eight-speed automatic transmission as its standard equipment, due to the eight-speed being designed to more aptly handle higher torque outputs. Making these powertrains even more impressive are features that include Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, a segment-exclusive electronic sway-bar disconnect, thirty inches of water fording, Thirty-three-inch off-road tires, and both Command- and Rock-Trac 4x4 systems. These powertrain options and additional features work together to give the Gladiator its best-in-class towing and payload capacities of 7,650 and 1,600 pounds respectively.
An Adventure in the Ready
