Trim Levels

There are four trim levels available on the 2020 Jeep Compass. The base-level trim is the Sport, with the mid-level Latitude following it. The luxury trim is the Limited, and if you're looking to do some trailblazing, the Trailhawk trim offers off-road performance. The Latitude and Limited also offer Altitude and High Altitude packages that provide extra exterior badging and trim elements. Like all Jeeps, the Compass comes in a range of body colors. These include Olive Green Pearl, Diamond Black Crystal Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, Jazz Blue Pearl, Laser Blue Pearl with Black Clear Coat, Redline Pearl with Black Clear Coat, and White Clear Coat.

Engine

There's only one engine across the Compass lineup. It's a 2.4-liter inline-four that gives you 180 horsepower with 175 pound-feet of torque. With the Sport and Latitude models, you get a six-speed manual transmission or a six- or nine-speed automatic. It's plenty of power to get you anywhere you need to go.

Performance

At the base level, front-wheel drive is the standard powertrain, with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional at the Sport, Latitude, and Limited levels, and standard on the Trailhawk. AWD models get a nine-speed transmission. AWD models are also rated, when properly equipped with the optional tow kit with Class III hitch and four-pin harness, to tow up to 2,000 pounds.

Interior

From a comfort standpoint, Jeep knows how to create a cabin. The controls are easy to reach and use, and the seats are comfortable and offer great support with plenty of settings for adjustment. It's easy to get in and out, and there's plenty of room for passengers up front and in the back. Behind the back seats, you'll get 27.2 cubic feet of space for groceries and gear, and with the seats folded down, your cargo space increases to 59.8 cubic feet. The Uconnect infotainment system offers an available 8.4-inch touch screen that's simple to navigate and has great features. These include full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and satellite radio, among others.

Safety Features

The Compass has a range of active intelligent safety features available, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping, front crash warning, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, and more. Most are available in the Security or Advanced Security Group add-on packages. Standard features like heated mirrors, stability control, braking assist, and a rearview camera are available at the base level. The Compass received a 4-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA.
